Beginner Ballet II

IBT Academy Beginner Ballet II is a fun and challenging class designed for students age 9-11 with some prior ballet experience.

In the best traditions of the Vaganova method, Beginner Ballet II students will continue to strengthen and refine their technique, built upon learning solid placement and consistent work habits.

Class will include a complete range of barre exercises with emphasis on alignment, precision and use of demi-pointe. Center work will focus on the development and coordination of port de bras: developing a strong center will later resulting in more graceful and powerful performances. Students will be taught how to acchieve stability and expression in adagio, while petite allegro work will focus on learning how to move quickly through clean technical habits and clarity.

Linking and transition steps as well as diagonals and menège will be further developed and refined. Traveling ballet steps,leaps, and improvisation, neces-sary to allow freedom of movement and artistic expression, will be taught and perfected.

Beginner Ballet II students will be challenged with increased complexity as they advance to the higher levels, and their confidence in using the physical mechanics will gradually build up.

Finally, thanks to IBT teachers’ constant strive for excellence and their firm yet affable manner of instruction, students will become more efficient and effective at utilizing their natural artistic ability.

Classes are 1 h long.

Beginner Ballet II students will participate in the end of the year recital. In addition, two observation classes will be held in the studio during regular class time twice a year. At these times parents and family members will be invited to observe, videotape and photograph their children.
