Intermediate Ballet class includes warm-up, complete barre work, center and across the floor combinations for the purpose of developing strength, flexibility, coordination and correct body alignment.
Students will take on extended, complex movement phrases and learn to combine the new steps in a variety of enchainments designed to improve their physical skills and challenge them mentally. They will be further introduced to more adagio, petite and grande allegro, and sur la pointe. Exercises designed to improve accuracy, speed and the ability to link movements will be taught. Great attention will be paid to the area of complex ballet turns, including pirouettes, diagonals and menège.
Most importantly, Intermediate Ballet is the level at which students begin to develop quality of movement. In the best traditions of the Vaganova method, they will be tought to dance with their whole body instead of isolating body parts into mechanical, separate movements.
Finally, Intermediate Ballet students will be gradually tought to establish a set of accurate aesthetic criteria, which will enable them to interpret and analize emotional and technical execution of dance.
Classes are 1 h 15 min long.
Throughout the length of the course renowned ballet masters will be periodically featured as guest instructors.
Intermediate Ballet & Beginner Pointe students will participate in the end of the year recital. In addition, two observation classes will be held in the studio during regular class time twice a year. At these times parents and family members will be invited to observe, videotape and photograph their children.

The majority of the weight is supported by the metatarsals and fourteen phalanges, and by the calf and thighs along with the abdomen. IBT Beginner Pointe class focuses on a foot strength-building program designed for pointe readiness.
